The Reality of Food Additives (E Numbers) in Diet, Their Effects on Human Health, and Their Sharia Evaluation
Abstract
Food additives (E Numbers) are substances added to enhance flavor, appearance, and shelf life but may pose health risks. Islamic law prohibits harmful substances, emphasizing protection of human health. Various E Numbers are linked to diseases like cancer, allergies, asthma, digestive, liver, kidney, heart, skin, and neurological disorders, especially affecting children. Responsible use, awareness, and preference for natural alternatives are advised to minimize harm and align with halal principles.
